September 12th, 2026, Fukuoka JALT is excited about teaming up with the Busan-Gyeongsang-Daegu KOTESOL chapter to bring you the joint symposium Collaboration Across Borders. It will be held in Fukuoka City.
Following from the success of last year's online workshops, once again, JALT's National will hold TnT/PD Workshops online, on September 11th.
They will be run in two streams:

Professional Development (PD)

JALT's 52nd Annual International Conference on Language Teaching and Learning will be held Nov. 20-22, 2026 in Nagoya (map).
Registration will be open by early August, according to the JALT Talk newsletter.
The 2026 Vocabulary Symposium will be held at Kyushu Sangyo University (九州産業大学, in Higashi-ku, Fukuoka; map) in Fukuoka on September 26th. Details: https://jaltvocab.weebly.com
They have an exciting line up of invited papers (John Maurice Gayed, Satoru Uchida, Chris Cooper, and Moon Takano) on technology/AI in L2 Vocabulary/Lexis, to be discussed by Atsushi Mizumoto.
The call for presentations is open for the SA SIG conference, to be held October 17, 2026 at Kyushu Sangyo University (九州産業大学, in Higashi-ku, Fukuoka; map). They invite presentation proposals on study abroad both outbound and inbound. Presentations may be delivered in English or Japanese. Deadline: Thursday, September 17th.
The JALT Material Writer's SIG welcomes authors, EdTech developers, teachers, researchers, and publishers to join us for a great event at the Prefectural University of Kumamoto (PUK). The call for presentation proposals is open. Deadline: Sunday, September 27, 2026.
The JALT PanSIG 2027 Conference will be held May 15-16, 2027, at Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU) in Beppu City, Oita Prefecture.
If you've never attended JALT's second-largest conference, this is a great opportunity close to Fukuoka.

Four speakers joined us for this hybrid event that we co-hosted with the TEVAL SIG on Saturday, February 21, 2026. Afterwards, we held a social dinner.
We managed a presentation room with seven presenters on Sunday, February 22, 2026 as part of the ELT Convention. The ELT Convention had nearly 50 presenters in total, as well as educational materials displays.
On Saturday, March 14th (15:30 - 17:30), Sachi Oshima presented "Classroom Strategies for Fostering Independent Learning Among Lower Proficiency EFL Students"
On Saturday, May 30th (15:30 - 17:30), Alastair Graham-Marr presented "One Umbrella, Many Acronyms: Understanding CLT, TBLT, and CLIL through CBI"
